A Story of Parental Resilience

Posted: September 15, 2017

A young mother was having trouble connecting with her infant son. When she had time on her own with her baby, she’d usually be on her phone while the baby played on the floor beside her. She realized that she didn’t know how to play with her baby, perhaps because her parents had never played with her. The mother joined the Trusting Loving Connections program and learned how to create a Circle of Security for her baby and how to play with him in a way that was enjoyable for both of them. She could watch how other parents interacted with their children and have the program facilitator coach her. By the end, she said her relationship with her son had improved dramatically and she felt much more capable of engaging with him and just having fun playing together.
