The Waterloo Region Family and Children’s Service Foundation (FACS Foundation) launched in 1991 to raise funds to support local programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect, to help families, children and youth thrive in their homes. The FACS Foundation works closely with Family and Children’s Service Waterloo Region (the Agency) and other community partners to support the safety and wellbeing of children, youth and families in Waterloo Region.

To continue to support the work that we do, the Foundation is looking for a full-time Executive Director to join our Waterloo Region Family and Children’s Services Foundation team fill an upcoming vacancy. This is a hybrid role.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a respected community Foundation at a pivotal moment in its growth. You will have the chance to inspire generosity, foster innovation, and create lasting impact for children, youth, and families across Waterloo Region.
Reporting to the Foundation Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Foundation’s fundraising and granting activities. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for strengthening community relationships, growing donor engagement, and advancing the Foundation’s mission in collaboration with Family and Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region and other community partners.
The Executive Director will:
• Develop and execute with the Board of Directors a bold, forward-thinking strategic vision that positions the FACS Foundation to effectively support programs that help families, children and youth thrive in their homes
• Lead, coach, and partner with staff, board members, and volunteers to uncover new fundraising opportunities and leverage connections to drive revenue growth
• Serve as the Foundation’s spokesperson, building and maintaining relationships to inspire greater philanthropic support
• Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, events, and donor stewardship strategies
• Ensure alignment with the Agency’s vision and values, while modeling equity, diversity, and inclusion in all activities
• Manage Foundation operations, finances, compliance, and reporting in accordance with best practices and CRA requirements
• Collaborate closely with the Board to fulfill the organization’s mission through reporting, governance, and volunteer engagement
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Behavioural Sciences, or related field (CFRE designation an asset)
• Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in business development, fundraising, communications, or public relations, including experience with volunteer boards
• At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of fundraising methods, campaign management, and donor relations best practices
• Excellent relationship-building, communication, and public speaking skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, compliance requirements, and governance processes
Employment is conditional upon the verification of credentials and employment, a satisfactory police check, and a satisfactory Child Welfare check.
Salary Range: $117,560.98 - $149,570.39 per annum
Hours of Work: 34 hours per week
