The CCAWR and its partners invite you to a 1-day in-person event to launch Black History Month in the Region of Waterloo. The theme of the launch event is:
Black History. Black Heritage. Black Future.
In December 1995, the House of Commons officially recognized February as Black History Month in Canada following a motion introduced by the first Black Canadian woman elected to Parliament, the Honourable Jean Augustine. Black History
Month in Canada has been officially celebrated since 1996.
On Sunday, February 4th, 2024, we will celebrate in-person at the Ken Seiling Region of Waterloo Museum with community greetings, artistic performances, and educational seminars. This will be an all-ages, interactive event.
Reserve your FREE tickets on Eventbrite.
