Hello Community Members and Partners,
You are invited to a Kwanzaa Celebration! This year at Family and Children's Services, we will celebrate Kwanzaa with the community. Kwanzaa is a holiday celebrated within Pan-African culture from Dec. 26 – Jan. 1. Developed by professor, activist and author Maulana Ndabezitha Karenga, Ph.D., Kwanzaa centres seven principles that are practiced daily and culminates in a feast. The intention of Kwanzaa is to give people of African descent an alternative to the dominant practices of society and an opportunity to celebrate themselves and their history.
We are looking forward to coming together to light the Kwanzaa candles, celebrate with food and performances from the community including dancing, drumming, music, and singing.
Sincerely,
Clayton Greaves
Service Director - Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
