African Family Revival Organization

AFRO is a grassroots, mutual aid organization serving the Black and African communities in Waterloo Region that enables all members of our community to participate in Canadian society as active citizens.

AFRO Empowering Girls Program
AFRO brings you the Empowering Girls Program, which aims to help young girls realize the positive effect on their lives, recognize their strength to increase their resiliency, and help support one another. Join us every Friday from 5 pm to 6:45 pm at the Victoria Hills Community Centre, Kitchener, to socially bond, confront racism, learn entrepreneurial skills and many other things.

Support Through The Generations
AFRO, together with the Seniors from our Support Through The Generations Program will like to thank and appreciate Nancy Singer, a Senior Social Worker from the Waterloo Region Community Legal Services, for coming out to talk to our seniors about their rights when dealing with landlords as well as any legal advice they may require. You can join us every other Tuesday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Victoria Hills Community Centre, Kitchener, where you get the opportunity to connect with one another from all walks of life.

Black Mental Health Campaign
Mental health in Black communities is a longstanding concern. The stigma around mental health is prevalent whiles barriers to accessing culturally relevant and appropriate mental health care exist.
AFRO’s Black Mental Health Campaign (BMHC) promotes mental health literacy, normalizing the conversation about mental well-being and improving help-seeking behaviour among community members. The conversation about mental health will start with children and youth, who will, in turn, be encouraged to take these conversations into their family homes.
