"Christmas Angels" for Nancy's family

Nancy was working with a young mother of twins, who lived with her sister and parents. In December, when Nancy first met the family, they had been dealing with health problems and the children’s grandfather had been laid off from work.

When Nancy mentioned that the Holiday Support program could help to relieve some financial stress, the grandfather was teary-eyed and refused the help saying “Never in my life have I been unable to provide for my family.”

A week later, Nancy received a call from the grandfather. He was embarrassed and ashamed of his situation but agreed to accept help from the Holiday Support program.

Nancy was able to deliver the gift cards a few days before Christmas and the family was overwhelmed by the generosity of the community. They hugged Nancy and told her they felt they had “Christmas Angels” looking out for them.
