I AM Group (Youth Grades 6-8) Several single sessions will be offered this summer.

I AM Group is a free, after-school group for youth in Grades 6-8.

I AM sessions works to build healthy relationships with friends, family and classmates through building self-esteem and self-worth. Through fun, engaging and interactive activities, I AM examines the importance of healthy relationships and a positive personal image. The group brings awareness and explores topics that can impact an in individual’s self-esteem and how that can affect daily decisions and relationship in an age of strong media influences.

***Co-delivered in partnership with Women’s Crisis Services of the Waterloo Region. If you are FACS staff, please obtain verbal consent for the sharing of client contact information with WCSWR, prior to submitting the referral.

BUILDING SELF-ESTEEM

Through fun and engaging group activities, examine the impact relationships have on a person’s health and self-esteem. During this group we will examine the impact of positive and negative self-talk and explore ways to raise and maintain healthy self-esteem. This will be done through fun and engaging group activities.

MEDIA AND IT'S IMPACT ON SELF-ESTEEM

During this group we will examine the messages sent through different forms of media and explore the impact of these messages on a person’s self-esteem. This will be done through fun and engaging group activities.

During this group we will be learning to recognize differences as strengths, with the goal of becoming more accepting of others and ourselves. We will discuss how being critical of each other’s differences can impact a person’s self-esteem.
