7. Encourage your workplace to make a corporate gift to the campaign or sponsor the Radiothon
The Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of abused and neglected children by providing the supports they need to heal and reach their full potential. To do this, we rely heavily on our corporate partners for their support and commitment to ensuring the success of our children and youth. Appropriate levels of recognition (and employee involvement) are tailored to meet our partners needs and their giving levels. These may include:

  • recognition in Foundation publications;
  • recognition in media activities;
  • visibility on our web site; and
  • the ability to direct your donation.

Where appropriate:

  • annual progress reports on the impact of your gift and who benefited from your investment;
  • naming opportunities; and
  • a tax receipt.

6. Host a Third-Party Fundraiser with proceeds directed to the Tree of Hope
There are many ways to show your support of the Foundation - but organizing an event on our behalf is guaranteed to be the most entertaining! Hosting a special event is a great way to unite a group to raise money to support life-enriching experiences such as summer camp or scholarships for vulnerable children and youth in this community. Contact Candi Harrington at candi.harrington@facswaterloo.org to receive your complimentary Special Event Toolkit or Dress Down for Hope package today.

5. Purchase a paper Tree of Hope from one of our Deck the Walls partner locations
Deck the Walls with Trees of Hope is a fun, interactive campaign to kick start the holiday season. This in-store promotion asks customers to donate a tooney to the CHYM FM Tree of Hope in exchange for a colourful paper tree on which customers can write their name and have displayed around your location; creating a dazzling landscape of colour, and demonstrating your group's community spirit. All supplies and materials necessary to get your campaign off the ground are provided; you won't even have to decorate for the holiday season! Contact vicki.loree@facswaterloo.org to get started.

4. Donate a Gift In Kind
Make a gift of a product or service to one of our Tree of Hope event auctions or donate an item from our Children's Wish List. You can access our Children's Wish List by clicking here or in our semi-annual publication, Voice of Hope

3. Volunteer your time
The gift of time is a special gift for the children and families who rely on us. You can join the FCS Foundation team and make a brighter future for the vulnerable members of this community. We are currently looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers to help with a variety of jobs! As we are a small unit, we rely on our volunteers to help us succeed in raising much-needed funds for the children in care of the Agency as well as in our ongoing service families. Volunteers are needed for our Community Events and for our three main events, Kick Off, Tree of Hope and the Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program. Volunteer positions currently being recruited for are: Greeters, Phone Bank volunteers, Event volunteers, etc.

Join the Foundation's new Ambassador's Team! The Ambassador Team provides volunteer leadership for the FCS Foundation and the Tree of Hope campaign. Working in co-ordination with the Foundation Board members, volunteers, and staff, the Ambassadors Team seek to extend the ability of the Foundation to reach out to the community to invite continued support. Besides playing an important role, volunteering is an enriching opportunity where you can make new friends and have fun!

2. Invite your work place team to Adopt-A-Family this holiday season!
This special program matches community members (individuals, companies, and groups) with needy families in the community. Each year, family "sponsors" are provided with a description of a family from this community, and a list of suggested gifts. To ensure each child is treated equally, we request donors limit spending to approximately $75 per family member. A food voucher is included with the gifts to allow the family to enjoy a special meal over the holidays. Last year over 400 families and youth were 'adopted'. Children in families who were not 'adopted' received toys from The Knights of Columbus Toy Drive program and a food voucher.
THIS YEAR'S GOAL HAS BEEN SET AT 100% OF OUR FAMILIES IN NEED TO BE ADOPTED!

Adopt a Family Information

We anticipate approximately more than 400 families across the Region will participate in this year's program. Please help us to ensure no child goes without this holiday season. More information about the Adopt a Family Program.
...and the #1 way to show your support...

1. Listen to the 2011 Radiothon December 8 and make your pledge in support of vulnerable children, youth, families!

The Radiothon is a two-day broadcast live from Fairview Park Mall. The Radiothon provides opportunities for public education about the needs of children in our community, for public participation in the campaign and donor acknowledgement. Live broadcasts include on-air participation by youth in the care of Family and Children's Services, foster parents, agency staff, volunteers, board members, city mayors and others who can tell the story of how these services make a difference to children, youth and families of Waterloo Region. During the Radiothon, the community is invited to call in pledges for the campaign. Visa, Mastercard, American Express and personal cheques are accepted for donations. Volunteers cover the telephones and accept pledges. Regular updates of the overall pledged amounts are then broadcast regularly throughout the two days.

Public participation is very high, with individuals and employee groups calling in with pledges and challenging others to do the same! People also come to Fairview Park Mall, or any other mall locations to bring in donations, say hello, and offer their support to the campaign.
