Children & Youth Services Worker - Maternity Leave Contract
The Agency currently has a temporary full-time Children and Youth Services Worker position available within the Children & Youth Services Team. This is a maternity leave contract from February 2012 to February 2013.
The worker will provide protective and preventative service as mandated under the Child and Family Services Act, to crown wards in the care of the Agency. As the corporate parent, this worker will supervise the care of children in residential placements, provide support to foster parents, provide counselling to children and ensure that permanency needs are addressed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MSW or BSW preferred
Related Masters or Bachelors degree (eg., MA or BA in Family Studies (U of G), MA Psychology) , with several years of relevant experience as determined by the Agency, together with strong references.
Previous experience in child welfare an asset;
Experience working with at risk children and families.
Above average written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated time management skills
Valid G Ontario Driver’s License with access to reliable vehicle.
Applicants should also possess a proven ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a team; strong assessment skills in order to assess needs, formulate plans of service and monitor/evaluate progress.
SALARY RANGE:
$26.91 to $35.41 per hour plus 4% vacation
