The Summer Work Student Exchange program is a summer work program that runs for six weeks (from early July to mid-August) and is aimed at students 16 and 17 years of age who will be returning to school in September. The program finds jobs for participants in a federal riding in another province. Ridings are paired so that students work in their second official language. Each participating riding in Quebec exchanges 10 students, five with a riding in Ontario and five with a riding in Atlantic Canada or Western Canada. During their stay in the host riding, each student lives with the family of the student with whom they have been paired. Coordinators (university students) supervise the students participating in the program, and run a program of activities.
