Administration:

Human Resources:
Develops and maintains effective human resource, training and development, staff services and related accountable business practices possible in the circumstances in order to achieve the vision and mission of the agency.

Finance and Property Maintenance:
Develops and maintains effective financial and property management services and related accountable business practices possible in the circumstances in order to achieve the vision and mission of the agency.

Information and Tech Services:

Information Services administrates the system for tracking children in care, administer and track case files, microfilming of closed case files, maintains data base and process internal and external record checks.

Tech Services administates and maintains the Agency's computer systems and provides user support and training to Agency staff.

Volunteer Services:
Recruit, train, maintain and co-ordinate the activities of a volunteers to meet the needs of the agency service users and programs. Responsible for the co-ordination of the Volunteer Services Transportation Program.

Ongoing Services:
Delivers or arranges and oversees the delivery of services required by families and children to alleviate the need for protection. In-home visiting (for the purpose of parenting education, home safety assessment, social support and assisting families to access needed services), supervising access visits and participating in the delivery of mutual aid groups. Develop, implement and administer a program for the treatment of families where sexual abuse has taken place in the form of group programs to clients of the agency.

Regional Intake:

Investigate and assess allegations of children being in need of protection as defined by the C.F.S.A., and provide immediate protection to children where necessary. Complete interventions, refer cases, after conclusion of the investigation, to Ongoing Service Workers .

Child and Youth Services:

Children's Services:
Direct service to children in care through different modalities (individual casework/ counselling, group work), depending upon the needs of clients and the programming requirements of the agency, eg. While principally responsible for working with children in residential care, the Children’s Services Worker may also carry the cases of the families of Crown Wards with access. In addition to working with children individually as a caseworker, the Children’s Services Worker may also be responsible for group work in programs such as Sexual Abuse Treatment.

Adoption:
Develop the appropriate adoption home resources and provide the necessary services of assessment, placement, supervision, and ongoing support and documentation, to enable the adoption of all children requiring this form of permanent placement. Enable adoptees, birth parents, and eligible birth relatives to receive adoption disclosure information in accordance with the provisions of the Child & Family Services Act.

Foster Care:
Recruit, train and assess prospective foster/adoptive applicants so that, to the greatest extent possible, the Agency has sufficient and appropriate foster care and adoptive resources which can best meet and promote the care, growth, and developmental needs of children and youth who require these types of care.
Residential Services: Ensure that through direct casework and other programming with residents, youth and children in the care of the agency are provided with high quality services in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment in accordance with MCSS legislation and Agency Policy.

Legal Services:

Ensures that competent legal counsel along with administrative support staff is available at all times to the social work staff of the agency to provide legal advice and guidance in child protection matters; to represent the agency in the conduct of child protection proceedings before the courts; to represent the agency in other judicial or quasi judicial proceedings (eg. inquests/inquiries) as determined; to provide training to staff regarding relevant legislation and legal practices.


Full-time:
The term "full-time" employee shall be deemed to mean any employee who is regularly employed for more than 25 hours per week.

Part-time:
The term "part-time" employee shall be deemed to mean any employee who is regularly employed for a fixed number of hours per week of 25 hours or less.

Contract:
The term "contract" employee shall be deemed to mean a temporary employee who is employed on a temporary contract for a pre-defined period of one (1) year or less or the length of a pregnancy/ parental leave, whichever is longer.

Casual/Relief:
The term "casual" employee shall be deemed to mean any temporary employee who is scheduled to work by the Agency on a casual or as needed basis, or any part-time employee who does not work a fixed number of hours per week.

Student:
The term "student" shall be any employee employed during the school vacation period (March Break, Summer, and the Christmas, New Year's periods) which will be paid at 60 % of the start rates of pay for the applicable classification.

Volunteers:
The term "volunteer" is a non paid position and are a complimentary resource in addition to the society's regular staff.
